WAUG or NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY GAMES?

Ok.
So we have the latest updates on WAUG
But, there's something we don't understand.
It's only Nigerian universities that are actually participating in these games.
We are yet to see a university from any West African country.
Kinda makes one wonder why it's called WAUG.
Here are the results from yesterday though
Tdays results...
Hockey female-
UNN 2.0 UI.
 Male-
UNN 3.1 FUT Mina,
OAU 1.0 BUK Kano.

Football knockout stage.
UNN 3.1 KANO STATE UNI,
UNICAL 0.0 MAUTECH YOLA(4:2 PEN).
UI also qualified for quarter finals while, ESUT  beat Bayero Kano to also qualify.
DELSU  and Uni Ilorin all booked a place in the quarter finals going down today.
UNN starts today's  quarter final match with Nasarawa state,
while DELSU takes it out with ESUT,
UI faces AAU ogbomoso.
So these are the results so far.
I wish all the universities the very best.
Especially UNN.
